Downtown Toronto Bed and Breakfast
The Cottage in the City is a restored turn of the century home on a tree lined residential street located in the midst of the old city of Toronto. It is close to all means of transportation: subway, bus and streetcar. The Pearson International Airport is a scant 30 minutes away.
Toronto bed and breakfast, the Cottage in the City, is located in the unique neighbourhood of Wychwood - an area of charm and craftsmanship, early homes nestled together with grand mansions and dozens of ethnic eateries. Many of its residents are accomplished artists and media celebrities.
Some Toronto landmarks just steps from the Cottage:
- Casa Loma, Canada's largest castle and the home of Sir Henry and Lady Pellatt;
- Spadina House, one of Toronto's premier 19th century Victorian homes;
- Ernest Hemingway's early residence when he worked for the Toronto Star;
- Marshall McLuhan, the media guru's home
- Just a few blocks south is the award winning Tarragon theatre. And a sure fire "don't miss" is one of the city's most unique ice cream parlors, Dutch Dreams.
Otherwise hop on the subway and within minutes you can be in the Skydome, the Royal Ontario Museum, Yorkville, Princess of Wales theatre, Honest Ed's or the Toronto Islands to name just a few Toronto tourist attractions.
Inside our welcoming bed and breakfast in downtown Toronto, you will find a warm decor complete with a private collection of artwork; an eclectic mix of modern, folk, aboriginal and primitive pieces collected over a period of 30 years.
Your Toronto Bed and Breakfast bedroom furnished with antiques
Our two guest rooms contain antiques from the 19th century. A sitting room with a mini-library blends the old with the new, including an antique typewriter collection and an internet connection to let guests keep in touch for either business or personal communication.
Our bath is something special; it contains the original cast-iron claw-foot tub that has been completely re-glazed. It allows our visitors to soak away the rigors of shopping or sightseeing. The entire home is air-conditioned for your comfort, but windows do open for fresh air, too.
Gourmet Breakfasts at your Toronto Bed and Breakfast
Our tempting breakfasts will call you to the dining room with the succulent aromas of gourmet ground coffees, herbal teas or oven baked Irish soda bread. Seasonal menus consist of Ontario grown sweet strawberry crepes, orange-lemon croissant souffles, pea meal bacon (a Canadian specialty), Johnnycake with pure maple syrup or a Cottage favorite plump blueberry buttermilk pancakes. An array of healthy and organic fruit cups are de rigor at the Cottage, too. Requests including food allergies or dietary needs are also taken into consideration.
Your Toronto bed and breakfast hosts include a retired television journalist who has an intimate knowledge of Toronto with the expertise to make your visit a very special one! Whether you are visiting Toronto for the culture, theatre, shopping or special events, we can make you feel at home with Toronto insider tips. We feel the best part of operating a Toronto Bed and Breakfast is "serving our guests".
